HAP Standing Open Waters

Plan status: Implementation underway

Vision statement

Acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the extent, distribution and condition of standing open waters in the county, and characterise using the tier approach.
To ensure that all water bodies of high nature conservation interest are managed appropriately to maintain and enhance their conservation interest.
To restore the favourable conservation status of standing open water bodies where they have been degraded.
To encourage, where appropriate, the creation of aquatic and wetland communities, including new ponds on land of low conservation importance.
To raise awareness, understanding and education in respect of the biodiversity value of the standing open waters.
