This data is derived from the Condition Monitoring Assessment of the SAC. The area is taken from the site conservation objectives. In Northern Ireland there is currently 1 site for Turloughs. This site is located at Fardrum & Roosky SAC (County Fermanagh). The SAC itself is 43.10ha with the Turlough sites comprising 6.5ha of the SAC. Previously the area was reported as being 10 hectares. The new area should not be interpreted as a reduction in the status of the habitat; it is just a more accurate measurement of the area. In recent monitoring the site was reported as being in unfavourable condition. Characteristic vegetation and rare plants at the site appear to have progressively declined or disappeared over recent decades.

This site is the Pany-y-llyn turlough in Carmarthenshire, which is within the Cernydd Carmel SAC. Although the trulough is only 1 hectare in area, the whole of the groundwater catchement area of the turlough, which is 361 hectares, is included in the SAC.
